Hmmm blaphesmy of padang culinary would be best title for this...Eager to try their carp head curry coz its their infamous menu, yet when i taste it.. its sweet and dont want to eat it again... my mind about padang resto which has rich spicy gone... Yet the fish itself fresh enough... Others menu like Fried Quail (punai) also flat.. and oily ... combined with their price surge, i wont get back here again.. well at least im not curious again about their carp head curry... Theres also lot of padang like pagi sore would deserve better review...

Has one of the best Fish head curry in Jakarta. Great food and highly recommended. Friendly staff and food is fast and efficiently delivered on your table. The boss of the place even goes from table to table just to make sure everything is top class.

All time favourite for fish head curry, and burung punai. The curry is refreshing yet light taste, grouper fish head is super delicious and tender. Fried burung punai so tasty, the condiments is well marinated and fragrant. Great service, nice ambience

This small resto is always packed during lunch time. It is well known for it's Snapper fish head curry. Well cooked in curry spices, nothing fishy. So if you are a fish head connoisseur, look no further, this is THE place.

A must try special dishes of Restaurant Medan Baru: Burung Punai Goreng, Gulai Kepala Ikan Kakap and Sambal Ganjo. So delicious and tasty! If you want Sambal Ganjo, there are very limited stock, come before 11.00 a.m. to taste it.The service is good, the toilets are clean and they have mushalla ( praying room ) for moslem.😍😍

Fish head curry was seriously over rated!! Doesn't taste so good as the coconut milk smells fouled could be due to freshness issues. The papaya leaf, Mutton and other vegetables dishes taste better

Marvelous, I haven't been there for years, when I have fish head for my lunch today, nearly finish my fish head, I wonder where is the owner, then surprised me he came and with his smile help us to open the final piece and nicest part of the fish head. Waooow what a wonderful lunch and services I got.

One of (if not) the best tasting Minang-Melayu restaurant in Jakarta. Their signature dish is Gulai Kepala Ikan (Fish Head Curry), you should try it! And try also their Burung Punai Goreng (Fried Punai) and Sambal Asam (savoury sambal).Located near Old Jakarta's China town, this restaurant had been there for many years. They have renovated the restaurant to make it more comfortable. Now they have more air conditioned area and quite cozy musholla.

Clean restaurant. It has two special menu; Gulai Kepala Ikan (Snaper Fish Head) and Goreng Burung Dara. Good quality of food cooked in traditional Sumatra style where most of the menu using coconut milk.It is quite pricy, average check at IDR 130,000 - 150,000.

This place sells one of the most delicious fish head. It's really pricey for me but its worth it. I ordered 1 plate of head fish but they serve it half and it cost almost 400k. I also tasted the fried chicken, it smells and tasted real good not like other place. Their pucuk labu also good, but the roce was really small like a mini version😂. This place may look small in the outside but it actually wide and clean inside. They have smoking area and non-smoking area. The toilet also really clean, the hand soap and they also provide a toothpaste for free. Their service are on top, only need less than 5 minute and all your order already in the table. p.s: forgot to take a picture bcs I was too hungy lol

One of the OG place in Jakarta... The food we're top notch... I tried the Gule Kepala Kakap or salmon head in rich curry flavour... It's da Bomb... And also try the Sambal Ganja... It's just a name.. But the taste is so tangy and flavourfull... But the downside is, the rice portion is so small.. You cant just order 1 portion of it.. You'll need more

Summary: Some of the best Padang I've had in Jakarta. Major mark down, however, as the facility is not clean, even by local standards.Quality: The food here is amazing. They're most famous for their fish head curry, however, the other Padang staples (rendang, dendeng balado, nangka) are all fantastic.Value: Normal padang pricing, which considering the quality of the food, is great.Ambiance and service: This is some of the best Padang food I've had in Jakarta, but unfortunately, I'll never go back. While sitting there, I saw multiple very large cockroaches scurrying around, including one that tried to venture up my leg. My lunch ended immediately, as did my time as a customer there. To be clear, I eat at very local restaurants very often and I am under no illusion that those places are spotless either. That said, my experience here was unique in an very unflattering way.

If you are looking for restaurant with authentic melayu taste than this is one of the perfect one.

Five stars for Padang food, you can eat head of Kakap with good taste. Very good Dengdeng I had ever ate. The prince is quite expensive but it's worth it with the taste.

Delicious food with plenty of seating and easy parking. Make sure to come early (before 1pm) if you want to taste their special sambal, because they run out quick!

Fried punai bird and fish head soup is what they're famous for here. The first one is my favorite as i can't just eat one on each visit. Every other dish is special and delightful and don't forget to try (and lower your cholesterol) the cucumber drink

If I could give 20 stars, I would! All is undoubtfully delicious. Friendly and very fast responses staffs, the owner has a great personality, he even told us how to eat the dishes. Massive applauds!
